Accepting an invitation to join a new community or group

This  content relates to existing members who recieve an invitation via email to join another group.

An error can sometimes occur when accepting an invitation to join a group sent to you via email. Follow these simple steps:

  1. The email contains a link that prompts you to return to the site to join.
  2. If you click on the link in the email whilst not already being signed in to the Microsoft Partner Network, you will be prompted to either sign in, or register.
  3. As an existing member you click on the sign in option.
  4.  If a Windows Live ID error is shown (it can be caused by a browser caching/cookie error,) close all browsers (and delete cookies if you can)
  5. Reopen a browser, go to www.microsoftpartnernetwork.com and sign in as normal.
  6. Then return to the email, copy the link, then paste it into the browser you have just signed in with.
  7. You should then receive confirmation that the invitation has been accepted and you have successfully joined the group.

Hi Ed, great new site! Quick question about the Groups. What distinguishes a Business group from a Technical group. Or more specifically, aren't Microsoft Dynamics CRM and Microsoft Exchange better categorised as technologies and placed in the Technical group?

Regards, Neil
