Hi all,
We have been hearing the phrase 'adoption support' a lot lately in relation to deploying MS technologies in web solutions. But what is actually meant by 'adoption support'? We are keen to understand more about what this looks like and what's needed / required when going through an adoption phase - often with live client projects at stake.
Interested to hear any thoughts on this.....
Katy
It seems as though this post has had quite a few views but no responses yet - maybe you're a shy bunch!
In all seriousness, I am really keen to hear from anyone who has valuable feedback/insight/ideas when it comes to supporting adoption. The research that we undertake here at Microsoft helps us to establish trends, patterns and so forth but it is talking to our partners directly that helps make sense of some of the findings.
When it comes to adopting a new technology what are the challenges? Do these challenges inhibit or delay adoption? If vendors could make the adoption cycle easier for you, what would you suggest? What do we not do that we could be? You get the picture.....
Please do message me directly if you would rather not post! But it would be great to get a discussion going around this.
Hi Katy
Well in regard to Silverlight what we would like to see is Microsoft actually go out and publishing the figures on adoption so the creative community and those interested but reluctant to use Silverlight can actually see its is gaining support.
I can only take a creative view to this but as we see more real world applications come onto their market rather than WOW factor POC's that use Silverlight and more figures showing increased and honest uptake then more creative’s will adopt.
I hope this helps and my 10p gives some insight into the problems we face in the creative agency space.
Regards
Adrian
Hi Adrian,
As always, great feedback. SIlverlight penetration is growing all the time and I think thats a really valid point and will feedback to the SL product managers. I am seeing more and more examples of ROB apps using SIlverlight - there's a definite uplift and they really are impressive, just as much as the 'wow' stuff we see more of. Our software vendors are producing some great examples too its not just coming out of the agency space.
As you know, we have been looking at potential case studies across all of our web technologies to really help demonstrate how they are being used, but what I am finding more an more from agency partners, is that they want to see how others have managed the process of adoption and deployment too... It's something we are working on at the moment (hense my original post). Ideally, we want to create support / reources that agencies really want so we are keen to hear from agencies to help shape this.
I think for now, the message is watch this space, and if you have an idea of what would really help you then let us know :)
Thanks
